AFRICAN SCHOLARSHIP EXCHANGE (ASE) was founded in 1997 as a 501(c)3 with the name Educating Africans for Christ (EAFC).

In the summer of 1996 when Val and Barry Vickery arrived in Malawi to serve as missionaries at a Bible college, they were left in the very capable hands of the Malawian staff to learn about the brand new culture they were about to experience. And what a blessing it was to be able to   learn an interpretation of the culture as seen from those who were locally raised and lived there permanently.

When this couple returned to the United States 15 months later, they came with a promise on their lips uttered to one of those first friends that they would raise money for his continued education.

The initial goal of the ministry was to facilitate a few of these friends with the training they needed to fulfill God’s call on their lives. Thus Educating Africans for Christ was born.

Fast forward to 2014 and this ministry offers a rich history. African Scholarship Exchange has served over 800 men and women with university degrees and beyond in all fields of study. A blueprint is firmly written in stories of successes and challenges through the years.

Education Africans for Christ (EAFC), now African Scholarship Exchange (ASE) feel blessed to have been a part of establishing a foundation in which respectful, responsible relationships are formed.

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory.

We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the    Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in Christ.
